John T Mason

Founder, OakHorn Solutions

Prior to founding OakHorn Solutions, John T Mason was the Chief Information Officer for the Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, Texas, a Five Star CMS Rated hospital and 2014 Baldrige Award Winner.

Just prior to that role, he served as Chief  Information  Officer  and Healthcare Executive for St. David’s Healthcare and HCA’s Central and West Texas Division. Serving patients across the region and globe, the system is comprised of 9 acute care and connected emergency care facilities, outpatient surgery centers, institutes and specialty clinics supporting 10,000 employees and 3,000 physicians.

In both his previous CIO roles, John delivered a wide array of competitive advantage, technology-enabled clinical and facility solutions.  Included in John’s most notable accomplishments was his leadership role in earning the 2014 Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award for St. David’s Healthcare.

Prior to accepting a pivotal HCA executive role and role with Hill Country Memorial, John garnered a breadth of experience in, and recognition for, distinguished leadership, organizational transformations and innovative change. He advanced his career within the HCA Healthcare System through earned promotions, increased responsibilities and challenging opportunities — leading diverse teams, delivering robust solutions and attaining strategic goals.

Preceding HCA, John forged and executed business development strategies while leading large-scale, high visibility, multi-million dollar projects for an award-winning, nationally-positioned consulting firm. He began his career by successfully leading culturally diverse, geographically dispersed teams toward common goal attainment in a highly complex, fast-paced environment as a U.S. Army Captain and Communications Officer.

Recognized for his high energy, thought leadership, professional expertise and influential capabilities, John has served as keynote and guest speaker, guest lecturer and adjunct professor at various conference, university and college venues. In a volunteer capacity, John founded and serves as president of the non-profit Path of Hope Foundation, Inc., providing educational scholarships and opportunities for girls in impoverished areas of Central America.
